The rarest Fortnite skins, ranked by evidence

The ranking at a glance

The rarest Fortnite skin in 2026 is Black Knight: tier 70 of the Chapter 1 Season 2 Battle Pass, obtainable only from 14 December 2017 to 21 February 2018, never sold in the Item Shop, and covered by Epic's rule that Battle Passes before Chapter 5 Season 4 stay exclusive. Below it come the other early pass rewards, then the device and bundle promotions such as Galaxy and iKONIK, and then the shop outfits that have been vaulted longest, led by Rogue Agent, sold on one day, 15 September 2018. Every date below was re-read on 20 October 2026.

The table merges the two lenses other lists keep apart: outfits that can never return under any current Epic policy, and shop outfits that simply have not been sold for years. "Last obtainable" is the pass end date, the promotion's close or the last shop day. "Days" are counted to 20 October 2026, and the archive re-checks every row monthly.

How this ranking works

An outfit ranks higher the longer it has been un-obtainable and the more certain it is that it stays that way. That gives three tiers in order: Battle Pass rewards that Epic's policy keeps exclusive; device and bundle promotions that closed years ago; and Item Shop outfits that have been missing longest. Within a tier, the older closure ranks higher.

Shop history comes from fnbr.co, read two ways: each outfit's own page, and the tracker's daily shop pages from 1 January 2024. The second read matters because since 2025 Epic has often sold an outfit only inside a single-outfit bundle, and outfit pages do not count those days. On 10 October 2026 the archive swept every outfit added before 2023, 1,483 of the 1,504 the tracker could match, and ranked the shop outfits by their last day on sale. On 20 October 2026 every ranked row was read again, along with the daily shop pages from 11 to 20 October, to catch any return in between; none of the ranked outfits had come back. The live Item Shop for 20 October 2026, read from fortnite-api.com, overrides the tracker where the two disagree.

The ranking still will not do two things. It will not rank by dollar value, because outfits cannot be traded and the only market that prices them sells whole accounts, which Epic's terms forbid. And it will not call an outfit rare because a list elsewhere does: Renegade Raider, Skull Trooper and Chun-Li were all for sale within the past year.

Exclusives that can never return

Black Knight leads because nothing about its status is in doubt. It was the tier 70 reward of the Chapter 1 Season 2 Battle Pass, it has no shop history, and Epic's policy of 7 August 2024 allows only Battle Pass items released after that date to reach the shop, at least 18 months after their pass ends. At 20 October 2026 it had been out of reach for 3,163 days.

Sparkle Specialist (tier 56), Royale Knight (tier 21) and Blue Squire (tier 1) share Black Knight's window and rank just below it, because more players reached the lower tiers. Season 3, from 22 February to 30 April 2018, adds The Reaper (tier 100), Dark Voyager (tier 70) and Rust Lord (tier 23); Season 4 adds Omega, its tier 100 reward, to 11 July 2018. The Chapter 1 Battle Pass dossier lists every season's rewards.

Predator is the tier's late entry. It arrived on 20 January 2021 as the secret outfit of the Chapter 2 Season 5 Battle Pass, unlocked through the Jungle Hunter quests, and the pass ended on 15 March 2021. It is 2,045 days un-obtainable rather than 3,000, but the rule that keeps it exclusive is identical; the Predator dossier has the detail.

Promo and device exclusives

Galaxy is the rarest outfit that was never a Battle Pass reward. It came only with Samsung's Galaxy Note9 and Galaxy Tab S4, launched with a pre-order offer that ran from 10 to 23 August 2018, and fnbr.co records no shop listing. iKONIK followed on the Galaxy S10 family from 8 March 2019 and was retired on 26 September 2019, according to SamMobile's report of 25 September; Glow replaced it the next day on a much wider list of Galaxy devices, with redemption closing on 31 December 2019.

The console bundles fill the rest of the tier: Royale Bomber (PS4, from 16 July 2018), Eon (Xbox One S, 27 September 2018), Double Helix (Switch, 5 October 2018), Honor Guard (HONOR View20, January 2019), Dark Vertex (Xbox One S, 7 June 2019), Neo Versa (PS4, 24 July 2019) and Wildcat (Switch Special Edition, from 30 November 2020 in the US). None has been in the shop. Their claim windows closed at dates the archive has not been able to verify, so the table shows no day count for them.

Promotions rank below the Battle Pass exclusives for one reason: Epic's 2024 returns policy covers Battle Pass items and says nothing about promotional ones, so their exclusivity rests on seven-plus years of practice rather than a written rule. The exclusives dossier covers each promotion in full.

Longest-vaulted shop skins

Rogue Agent is the rarest outfit you could once simply buy. It was listed for 1,500 V-Bucks on a single day, 15 September 2018, and fnbr.co records one occurrence in total. No outfit in the archive's sweep of the pre-2023 catalogue has gone longer without a listing: 2,957 days at 20 October 2026. It ranks below every exclusive because it is a shop outfit, and Epic can list it at the next reset.

Next come Reflex, sold on 3 and 4 March 2019 for 1,200 V-Bucks after a GeForce bundle promotion; World Warrior from the World Cup 2019 set, sold for 800 from 26 to 28 July 2019; and Shaman, four listings between 31 March and 2 December 2019. The eight Fourth Down football outfits, among them Blitz, Gridiron and Strong Guard, were first sold on 10 November 2018 and last on 3 February 2020. Travis Scott and his Astro Jack outfit, six days in April 2020, follow, then Rue (last 17 May 2020), Kratos (19 March 2021) and Sofia from the John Wick set (25 March 2021).

Further down, the newer vaulted outfits are mostly licensed. LeBron James has not been sold since 13 April 2023, and the Fortnite Football Club variants since 2 June 2023. Chromatica Armor Gaga, 83 listings, was last on sale on 16 April 2025. The Travis Scott dossier and the returns dossier explain why none of these is barred from returning.

If an old shop outfit you want comes back, it will usually cost what it did at release, 1,200 to 2,000 V-Bucks. V-Bucks cards from Eneba or Loaded (formerly CDKeys) redeem the same as Epic's own; check the card's region against your account. These are affiliate links and the archive may earn a commission. Epic does not sell anything in the first two tiers, at any price.

Recently returned (off the list)

Four outfits that rare-skin lists still feature were for sale within the past year, so the archive no longer ranks them.

• Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper: 1,200 V-Bucks each in the OG Season Shop from 20 December 2024 to 30 January 2025 and again from 20 December 2025 to 31 January 2026, 85 listings each. What stays rare is the 2017 unlock and the black-and-gold OG style for original owners.
• Playboi Carti and King Vamp Carti: returned as single-outfit bundles at 1,500 V-Bucks from 8 to 12 July 2026, after the archive's September check had filed them as vaulted.
• Skull Trooper and Ghoul Trooper: both on sale for Fortnitemares in October 2026, Skull Trooper until 10 October and Ghoul Trooper until 15 October.
• Kai Cenat: on sale from 1 to 4 September 2026, 13 days in all since release when bundle days are counted.

Chun-Li (last 26 August 2026), Recon Expert (31 August 2026) and Special Forces (22 August 2026) belong here too: old, often listed and not rare. The OG skins guide covers the 2017 outfits that still rotate.

What "rarest" cannot mean here

The archive publishes no dollar values. Individual outfits cannot be traded or resold, and the only market that puts a price on them is the market for whole accounts. Epic's terms say accounts are personal and non-transferable, and buying or selling one risks a ban for both sides. When a list says a Galaxy account is worth a figure, it is pricing something Epic will ban when it changes hands.

What the archive does record is the V-Bucks price when an outfit was obtainable: 1,500 for Rogue Agent and Travis Scott, 1,200 for Reflex and the Season Shop pair, 800 for World Warrior. For pass and promotion exclusives there was no V-Bucks price at all, which is part of why they rank first.

How to check a last-seen date yourself

Open the outfit's page on fnbr.co and read its "last seen" line and shop history. Then check the tracker's daily shop page for later dates, because single-outfit bundles are listed there but not on the outfit page; Playboi Carti's July 2026 return shows up only that way. Finally, decide which rule applies: a Battle Pass reward from before Chapter 5 Season 4 is exclusive; one from Chapter 5 Season 4 or later can come back at least 18 months after its pass ends; a promotion has no written rule; and a shop outfit can return at any reset.
