OG Fortnite skins — the Chapter 1 index
Every way an outfit could be obtained in Chapter 1 — Season Shop, Battle Pass, Item Shop, device and console promotions — season by season, with what came back, what cannot, and what the OG Season Shop changed in 2024 and 2025. Shop dates read from fnbr.co on 9 September 2026.
What "OG" means in this archive
An OG Fortnite skin, in this index, is any outfit first obtainable during Chapter 1 — 26 October 2017 to 13 October 2019 — regardless of how. That definition matters because the word is used three ways online: for anything old, for Battle Pass rewards specifically, and for the two Season 1 outfits. The index keeps them apart, because their return status is completely different: shop outfits from 2017 rotate today, Battle Pass rewards from 2017 never will, and the Season 1 pair sits in between.
Season dates below follow the community season tables (Season 1 from 26 October 2017); Item Shop history is from fnbr.co; the OG Season Shop windows and the exclusivity rule are from Epic's own posts. For the full evidence ordering across all of Fortnite's history, the rarest Fortnite skins ranking is the parent record.
Season 1 (26 Oct – 13 Dec 2017): the Season Shop
Season 1 had no Battle Pass. It had a Season Shop, open from 8 November to 13 December 2017, where four items unlocked at a season level and were then bought with V-Bucks: the Aerial Assault One glider (500 V-Bucks, level 5), Aerial Assault Trooper (1,200, level 15), Renegade Raider (1,200, level 20) and the Raider's Revenge pickaxe (1,500, level 35). The Battle Pass replaced the Season Shop in Season 2.

Both outfits returned. Epic's OG Season Shop reproduced the 2017 mechanic — earn XP, then buy — from 20 December 2024 to 30 January 2025: Aerial Assault Trooper after 1,000,000 XP, Renegade Raider after 1,500,000 XP, each at 1,200 V-Bucks, with the glider at 500 after 500,000 XP and Raider's Revenge at 1,500 after 1,500,000 XP. The shop reopened in December 2025 and closed on 31 January 2026, the pickaxe this time requiring 2,000,000 XP. fnbr.co logs 85 shop days for each outfit across the two windows.

Original owners were promised a token in Epic's 19 December 2024 announcement and received it from spring 2025: an exclusive black-and-gold "OG" style for each outfit, granted to accounts that held the outfit before the Chapter 6 return. That style, not the outfit, is the OG credential now. Whether the OG Season Shop opens a third time in December 2026 is not announced; two consecutive winters is a pattern, not a rule.
Season 1's Item Shop outfits are a separate matter. Recon Expert (30 October 2017, 1,200 V-Bucks), Ghoul Trooper (30 October, 1,500), Skull Trooper (30 October, 1,500) and Special Forces (1 November, 1,200) were all in the shop again between 24 July and 31 August 2026. They are OG by date and ordinary by availability.

Season 2 (14 Dec 2017 – 21 Feb 2018): the first Battle Pass
Season 2 introduced the Battle Pass, and its four outfits are the most exclusive OG Fortnite skins in existence: Blue Squire at tier 1, Royale Knight at tier 21, Sparkle Specialist at tier 56 and Black Knight at tier 70. None has been in the Item Shop — fnbr.co shows zero occurrences for each — and Epic's 7 August 2024 policy keeps every pass before Chapter 5 Season 4 exclusive, so none can be.

The Season 2 shop added Merry Marauder for the holidays, an Epic outfit that has returned in later Decembers and is not rare, and the season's shop rotation began the pattern that holds today: shop outfits come back, pass outfits do not.

Season 3 (22 Feb – 30 Apr 2018) and Season 4 (1 May – 11 Jul 2018)
Season 3's pass ran from Mission Specialist at tier 1 through Rust Lord, Dark Voyager at tier 70 and The Reaper at tier 100; Season 4's ran from Carbide at tier 1 to Omega at tier 100, both with armour pieces that unlocked at further levels. All are exclusive under the same rule, and fnbr.co lists each as never in shop.

Season 4 also produced the first console-bundle exclusive: Royale Bomber, revealed on 22 June 2018 and shipped with a PS4 bundle from 16 July 2018. It has never been in the shop, and the exclusive skins dossier tracks it with the rest of the bundle outfits.
Season 5 (12 Jul – 26 Sep 2018): Drift, Ragnarok and Galaxy
Season 5's pass gave Drift at tier 1 and Ragnarok at tier 100, both with progressive styles, both exclusive. The season's real rarity, though, came from outside the game: Galaxy, the Samsung Note9 and Tab S4 outfit launched on 9–10 August 2018, which fnbr.co records as never in shop. It is the rarest OG Fortnite skin that was not a Battle Pass reward.

Season 6 (27 Sep – 5 Dec 2018) and Season 7 (6 Dec 2018 – 27 Feb 2019)
Two console bundles arrived in autumn 2018 — Eon with the Xbox One S bundle from 27 September and Double Helix with the Nintendo Switch bundle from 5 October — and neither has ever been sold in the shop. Season 7's pass opened with Lynx at tier 1, closed with Ice King, and the season's shop delivered the first Icon Series outfit, Marshmello, on 1 February 2019, the day before his in-game show drew 10.7 million concurrent players. Marshmello is not rare; fnbr.co shows 59 shop days and a last appearance on 20 July 2025.

Honor Guard, the HONOR View20 promotion outfit, dates to January 2019 and completes the Season 7 exclusives; its claim-window close is not verified today.
Season 8 (28 Feb – 8 May 2019) to Season X (1 Aug – 13 Oct 2019)
Season 8's pass gave Peely and Blackheart; Season 9's gave Rox and Vendetta; Season X reran a remix of Chapter 1's greatest hits. The promotional outfits of this stretch are the ones that matter for rarity: iKONIK with the Galaxy S10 family from March 2019 until the promotion ended on 27 September 2019; Dark Vertex with an Xbox One S bundle from 7 June 2019; Neo Versa with PS4 bundles from 24 July 2019; and Glow, for a much wider list of Galaxy devices, from 28 September until 31 December 2019. Reflex, briefly a GeForce promotion, had two shop days on 3–4 March 2019 and its Stealth Reflex style stayed with the bundle buyers.

The OG Pass and the "OG" remixes are not OG skins
Fortnite OG became a permanent mode on 6 December 2024 with its own OG Pass — 1,000 V-Bucks at launch, 800 after the March 2026 V-Bucks change — and its rewards are new outfits styled after Chapter 1, such as Aerial Assault Bomber, added on 1 December 2024. They are not the 2017 outfits, and neither are the Chapter 4 OG season remixes of November 2023 like Renegade Lynx. The archive lists them for clarity and does not rank them.

What an OG locker proves, and what it cannot be sold for
An OG locker proves that an account was played during a specific window; it does not have a resale value, because the account cannot legitimately be sold. Epic's terms make accounts personal and non-transferable, buying or selling one is a violation that ends in bans for both parties, and Epic pursued an account seller to a lifetime ban and settlement in a case reported on 20 December 2025. The archive never links account sellers and does not print account prices; the returns dossier covers the rule in full.
Inquiries
What was the first Fortnite skin?
The first outfits obtainable in Battle Royale were the Item Shop launches of late October 2017 — Recon Expert, Ghoul Trooper and Skull Trooper first appeared on 30 October 2017 according to fnbr.co — followed by the Season Shop's Aerial Assault Trooper and Renegade Raider from 8 November 2017. Default outfits existed from launch but were not obtainable items.
What is the most OG skin in Fortnite?
By provenance, the black-and-gold OG style on Renegade Raider or Aerial Assault Trooper, granted only to accounts that owned the outfit before the December 2024 return. By exclusivity, Black Knight, the tier-70 reward of the first Battle Pass, obtainable 14 December 2017 to 21 February 2018 and never since.
Did Renegade Raider really come back?
Yes, twice. Epic's OG Season Shop sold it for 1,200 V-Bucks after 1,500,000 XP from 20 December 2024 to 30 January 2025, and again until 31 January 2026. Original owners received an exclusive OG style from spring 2025.
Are Chapter 1 Battle Pass skins ever coming back?
No. Epic's rule of 7 August 2024 keeps every Battle Pass before Chapter 5 Season 4 exclusive; only passes from Chapter 5 Season 4 onward may return, 18 months or more after they end.
Which OG skins are still in the shop?
The 2017 Item Shop outfits rotate normally: Recon Expert was last seen on 31 August 2026, Special Forces on 22 August, Ghoul Trooper on 30 July and Skull Trooper on 24 July 2026, per fnbr.co. Age alone does not make an outfit rare.
