Predator Fortnite Skin: The Chapter 2 Season 5 Secret Outfit That Cannot Return
Predator was the hidden Battle Pass outfit of Chapter 2 Season 5, unlocked through the Jungle Hunter quests from 20 January 2021 until the pass ended on 15 March 2021. It has never been in the shop, and under Epic's 2024 rule it never will be. The quest chain, the set and the rule.

The Predator Fortnite skin was the secret outfit of the Chapter 2 Season 5 Battle Pass, unlocked by completing the Jungle Hunter quests that update 15.21 added on 20 January 2021, and obtainable only until the pass ended on 15 March 2021. fnbr.co records zero shop occurrences. Because Chapter 2 Season 5 is a pass from before Chapter 5 Season 4, Epic's exclusivity rule of 7 August 2024 keeps it permanently un-obtainable: 2,004 days as of 9 September 2026, with no mechanism that could bring it back.
What the Predator outfit is
Predator (catalogue id CID_991_Athena_Commando_M_Nightmare_NM1C8, description "The demon who makes trophies of men.") was added to the fortnite-api.com catalogue on 20 January 2021, introduced in Chapter 2 Season 5, Legendary rarity, part of the five-item Jungle Hunter set. It is the character from the 1987 film, hooded and armoured, and its built-in emote, Bio-helmet Online, toggles the mask. The set also held the Heat Vision Hunter spray, a banner and an emoticon.
The season and the update
Chapter 2 Season 5 ran from 2 December 2020 to 15 March 2021 and was the season of the hunters — the map gained Stealthy Stronghold in the north-west, and the pass's secret slot, which earlier seasons had used for outfits like Deadpool and Wolverine, was left blank at launch. Update 15.21 arrived on 20 January 2021 and filled it: a Predator pod appeared in Stealthy Stronghold, the Predator itself began stalking the area as a boss, and the Jungle Hunter quests went live for Battle Pass owners.
The quest chain, in order
The outfit was awarded on completion of a short chain. First, find the mysterious pod in Stealthy Stronghold. Then talk to three characters — Beef Boss, Remedy and Dummy — as the season's "Talk to" step. Then collect three medkits or health items in a single match. Finally, defeat the Predator, the boss who patrolled Stealthy Stronghold and dropped a cloaking device on death. Completing the chain unlocked the outfit; the spray, banner and emoticon followed from the remaining Jungle Hunter quests, and the emote was built in.
Every step required an active Chapter 2 Season 5 Battle Pass. That is the detail that decides everything below: this was a pass reward, not a shop item and not a free quest reward.
Why it can never return
Epic's policy, published on 7 August 2024 and stated in its help centre article on when items return to the shop, is that Battle Pass items released after that date may reach the shop at least 18 months after their pass expires, with no guarantee — the first eligible pass being Chapter 5 Season 4, eligible from May 2026 — and that Battle Passes from Chapter 1 Season 1 through Chapter 5 Season 3 remain exclusive. Chapter 2 Season 5 sits squarely in the exclusive range. There is no OG Season Shop analogue for Chapter 2 rewards, and Epic's OG Season Shop of 2024 and 2025 sold only Season Shop items from 2017, which were never Battle Pass rewards.
The archive's evidence ranking places Predator in its first tier for exactly this reason: absence backed by a rule. It is younger than the Chapter 1 pass rewards — 2,004 days against Black Knight's 3,122 — so it ranks beneath them within the tier, but above every device exclusive and every vaulted shop outfit, including Travis Scott. The rarest Fortnite skins ranking sets out the tiers in full.
What about a new Predator outfit?
A new licensed Predator outfit is possible and would be a different catalogue item; it would not be this one and would not carry the Jungle Hunter provenance. Epic has re-used licensed characters before in new forms without touching the original reward. The archive will record any such release as a separate entry and will not describe it as a return.
Owners and what the locker shows
Owners hold the outfit with its built-in emote and, if they completed the remaining quests, the spray, banner and emoticon. There is no OG-style recognition of the kind Renegade Raider owners received in 2025, and no exclusive style has been added since. The proof of provenance is the outfit itself, which is why account listings that trade on it exist — and why the archive reminds readers that Epic's terms make accounts non-transferable and that buyer and seller are both banned when a transfer is detected.
The rest of the Chapter 2 Season 5 pass, for contrast
The same pass opened with The Mandalorian at tier 1 — a licensed outfit under the same rule, sealed since 15 March 2021 — and its shop, in the same weeks, sold licensed outfits that are not sealed at all. Chun-Li and Ryu were listed on 21 February 2021 and Chun-Li was back in the shop on 23 to 26 August 2026; Ellen Ripley was added to the catalogue on 26 February 2021 as a shop outfit. Two licensed characters from the same season, one obtainable today and one never again, and the difference is entirely the channel they were sold through. Predator's provenance is the pass, and the pass is what Epic's rule protects.
That is also why the archive does not rank pass rewards by how hard they were to earn. Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 pass tiers could be bought for V-Bucks within the season, so a tier-100 or quest-gated outfit was, in principle, purchasable by anyone with the pass and the currency before the window closed. Rarity here is the window, not the grind.
In the archive
Predator is entry No. 004 on the ledger, filed as "exclusive". Its nearest relatives are the Chapter 1 pass rewards in the Chapter 1 Battle Pass dossier, which share the rule and add three years of age, and its opposite number is the Chun-Li dossier: a licensed outfit from the same season, sold in the shop, and back on sale in August 2026.
Inquiries
How did you get the Predator skin in Fortnite?
By owning the Chapter 2 Season 5 Battle Pass and completing the Jungle Hunter quests added in update 15.21 on 20 January 2021: find the pod in Stealthy Stronghold, talk to Beef Boss, Remedy and Dummy, collect three health items in a match, and defeat the Predator boss. The window closed with the pass on 15 March 2021.
Will the Predator skin come back to Fortnite?
No. It is a Battle Pass reward from Chapter 2 Season 5, and Epic's rule of 7 August 2024 keeps every pass before Chapter 5 Season 4 exclusive. fnbr.co records zero shop appearances.
Is the Predator skin rare?
Yes, by rule rather than by rotation: obtainable for eight weeks in early 2021, quest-gated, never in the shop, and permanently exclusive under Epic's policy. It ranks in the archive's first tier.
How much did the Predator skin cost?
Nothing beyond the Chapter 2 Season 5 Battle Pass, which cost 950 V-Bucks at the time. It was never sold separately.
Could Epic release a new Predator skin?
Possibly, as a new licensed item; it would be a different outfit without the Jungle Hunter provenance, and the archive would file it separately rather than call it a return.

Can Rare Fortnite Skins Come Back? Epic's Rules, the OG Shop and the Account Question
Three different rules decide whether a rare outfit can return — one for Battle Pass rewards since 7 August 2024, one for everything in the Item Shop, none at all for promotional exclusives — plus the OG Season Shop precedent and Epic's terms on account sales.
