Chapter 1 Battle Pass Skins: Every Season's Rewards, and Why None Can Return
From Blue Squire and Black Knight in Season 2 to the Season X remixes, Chapter 1's Battle Pass outfits are the most exclusive items in Fortnite — sealed by Epic's 7 August 2024 rule. Season by season: the tiers, the dates and the one thing the OG Season Shop did not touch.

Chapter 1's Battle Pass skins are the outfits awarded at tiers of the nine passes from Season 2 (14 December 2017) to Season X (13 October 2019), and every one of them is permanently un-obtainable: fnbr.co records zero shop occurrences for each, and Epic's rule of 7 August 2024 keeps all passes before Chapter 5 Season 4 exclusive. This dossier lists them season by season with the pass dates, so that the phrase "OG Battle Pass skin" has a date attached whenever it is used.
The rule that governs all of them
Epic's help centre article on when items return to the shop states that Battle Pass items released after 7 August 2024 may be available in the shop at least 18 months after the pass expires, with no guarantee, and that the first eligible pass is Chapter 5 Season 4 — eligible from May 2026. Everything earlier stays exclusive. The OG Season Shop of December 2024 and December 2025 did not change this: it sold the Season 1 Season Shop items, which were bought with V-Bucks in 2017 and were never Battle Pass rewards. Renegade Raider's return is not a precedent for Black Knight's.
Season dates below follow the community season tables, cross-checked against the season lists published by esports.gg on 9 September 2026.
Season 2 (14 Dec 2017 – 21 Feb 2018): the first pass
The first Battle Pass had four outfits: Blue Squire at tier 1, Royale Knight at tier 21, Sparkle Specialist at tier 56 and Black Knight at tier 70 — the top of a 70-tier pass. Black Knight is the archive's No. 001, the rarest Fortnite skin by evidence: un-obtainable for 3,122 days as of 9 September 2026, never in the shop, sealed by rule. The three below it share the window and rank beneath only because lower tiers were reached by more players.

Season 3 (22 Feb – 30 Apr 2018): the 100-tier pass
Season 3 extended the pass to 100 tiers and gave Mission Specialist at tier 1, Rust Lord along the way, Dark Voyager at tier 70 and The Reaper — the John Wick lookalike before John Wick was licensed — at tier 100. The Reaper is the archive's second-oldest tier-100 exclusive; Dark Voyager's reactive lights made it the most-worn of the set.

Season 4 (1 May – 11 Jul 2018): Carbide and Omega
Season 4 ran from Carbide at tier 1 to Omega at tier 100, both with armour pieces that unlocked at further levels — Omega's full set required level 80 by the season's end, which made the complete outfit scarcer than the tier alone. Valor and Battlehawk filled the middle tiers.

Season 5 (12 Jul – 26 Sep 2018): Drift and Ragnarok
Drift at tier 1 and Ragnarok at tier 100, both with progressive styles unlocked by XP, plus Huntress and Redline. Drift's final style is the one people mean when they say "Drift"; it required considerable play within the window, and it cannot be earned now.

Season 6 (27 Sep – 5 Dec 2018) and Season 7 (6 Dec 2018 – 27 Feb 2019)
Season 6 gave Calamity at tier 1 and Dire at tier 100, both progressive; Season 7 gave Lynx at tier 1, Zenith at tier 23 and Ice King at tier 100. Season 7 also brought the first Icon Series outfit to the shop — Marshmello, on 1 February 2019 — which is not a pass reward and not rare (59 shop days, last seen 20 July 2025).

Season 8 (28 Feb – 8 May 2019), Season 9 (9 May – 31 Jul 2019) and Season X (1 Aug – 13 Oct 2019)
Season 8 gave Blackheart at tier 1, Peely along the way and Luxe at tier 100; Season 9 gave Rox at tier 1 and Vendetta at tier 100; Season X gave a remix set — Eternal Voyager, Sparkle Supreme, Ultima Knight at tier 100 — that reworked earlier outfits. The originals they remixed remain separate, exclusive items. Later Peely outfits are shop items; the Season 8 Peely is not.

What "tier" meant, and why the window is the whole story
Chapter 1 Battle Pass tiers could be bought outright for 150 V-Bucks each, which means that every reward listed above — including tier-100 outfits — was purchasable within its season by a player with the pass and enough V-Bucks. The provenance a Chapter 1 pass outfit carries is therefore not effort but presence: the account existed and held the pass between two dates. That is why the archive ranks pass rewards by the date their window closed and not by tier, and why it lists tier-1 outfits such as Blue Squire, Drift and Lynx alongside the tier-100 ones. Progressive styles are the exception, since XP-gated stages such as Omega's full armour at level 80 or Drift's final style could not be bought, and the complete versions are scarcer than the base outfit.
Reading a pass reward in your locker
A Chapter 1 pass outfit shows its introduction season in the fortnite-api.com catalogue — Black Knight as Chapter 1 Season 2, The Reaper as Chapter 1 Season 3 — and fnbr.co lists its release date and last-seen date as "Never", because it was never a shop item. Those two records together are the proof of provenance, and they are the only proof: there is no OG style, badge or later recognition for Chapter 1 pass outfits of the kind Renegade Raider owners received in 2025.
What the OG Season Shop did and did not sell
Between 20 December 2024 and 30 January 2025, and again until 31 January 2026, Epic's OG Season Shop sold Renegade Raider, Aerial Assault Trooper, the Aerial Assault One glider and the Raider's Revenge pickaxe after XP thresholds — the four items of the 2017 Season Shop. It did not sell a single Battle Pass reward from any season, and the OG Pass that accompanies Fortnite OG awards new remix outfits such as Aerial Assault Bomber, not the originals. The OG skins index records both windows in full.
How this dossier fits the ranking
The archive's first rarity tier is made entirely of pass rewards sealed by the August 2024 rule, ordered by how long each has been un-obtainable: Season 2's four outfits first, then Season 3's, then Omega, then Predator from Chapter 2. Everything else — device exclusives and the longest-vaulted shop skins — ranks below, because none of it is protected by a published rule. The rarest Fortnite skins ranking is the full table; the exclusive skins dossier covers the device and console outfits that come next.
Inquiries
Can Chapter 1 Battle Pass skins come back?
No. Epic's rule of 7 August 2024 allows returns only for Battle Pass items from Chapter 5 Season 4 onward, at least 18 months after the pass ends; every Chapter 1 pass stays exclusive. fnbr.co records zero shop appearances for each outfit.
What was the first Battle Pass skin in Fortnite?
Blue Squire, tier 1 of the Season 2 Battle Pass, which began on 14 December 2017. Season 1 had no Battle Pass; its Season Shop sold Aerial Assault Trooper and Renegade Raider for V-Bucks.
Which Chapter 1 Battle Pass skin is the rarest?
Black Knight, tier 70 of the Season 2 pass — the highest tier of the first pass, un-obtainable since 21 February 2018. The archive ranks it No. 001 overall.
Did Renegade Raider's return mean Battle Pass skins can return?
No. Renegade Raider was a 2017 Season Shop item bought with V-Bucks, and the OG Season Shop sold only those four Season Shop items. No Battle Pass reward has been re-sold.
Where do the season dates come from?
Community season tables cross-checked against esports.gg's season list on 9 September 2026: Season 2 ran 14 December 2017 to 21 February 2018, Season 3 to 30 April 2018, Season 4 to 11 July 2018, and so on to Season X ending 13 October 2019.

Can Rare Fortnite Skins Come Back? Epic's Rules, the OG Shop and the Account Question
Three different rules decide whether a rare outfit can return — one for Battle Pass rewards since 7 August 2024, one for everything in the Item Shop, none at all for promotional exclusives — plus the OG Season Shop precedent and Epic's terms on account sales.
